At the Computation and Decision-Making Lab, directed by Dr. Ngoc Nguyen, we explore experimental approaches and computational models of decision-making and social interaction in both humans and intelligent machines. Our interdisciplinary research integrates insights and methodologies from cognitive science, social psychology, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. We focus on designing, developing, and implementing various technologies related to key areas, such as:
▶ NSF CISE Research Initiation Initiative Award ($174,592; July 2025 - June 30, 2027 (estimated); Sole PI): CRII: HCC: AI-Powered Educational Game Platform for Collaborative Decision-Making with Adaptive Feedback Using Cognitive Models and LLMs.
▶ NSF ANSF Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Phase 1 ($304,951; April 2025 - March 31, 2026 (estimated); Co-PI): Enhancing Career Decision-making for Individuals with ASD Through Adaptive Vocational Assessment Using Reinforcement Learning. (led by INCUENTRO LLC)
▶ University of Dayton - Research Council Seed Grant (competitive internal research grant) ($13K; Summer 2024, 2025; Sole PI)
▶ UD/UDRI Summer Research Fellowship ($17.8K; June 1st - July 15th 2024; Sole PI): Research on cognitive-inspired model distillation techniques for explainable Reinforcement Learning.
